Addiction Recovery Support

Therapy in Austin, TX

Addiction often thrives in secrecy, shame, and isolation. Recovery-focused therapy creates the opposite conditions (openness, understanding, and connection) so the emotional roots of addictive patterns can actually be addressed, not just managed.

Who this is for

  • Anyone working through addictive patterns involving substances, behaviors, or thought cycles
  • People already in a recovery program who want a therapeutic space to go deeper
  • Partners and family members affected by a loved one’s addiction
  • Anyone who has tried to white-knuckle change on their own and wants a different approach

What to expect

Rather than focusing only on the behavior itself, sessions explore what the addictive pattern is protecting against, often shame, loneliness, unmet emotional needs, or unresolved pain. We work on building emotional regulation skills and healthier ways of connecting with others, so the pattern has less to hold onto.

Our approach

This work is relational and non-judgmental by design. Shame keeps addiction hidden, and shame-based approaches tend to reinforce the very cycle they’re trying to break. Sessions can complement work you’re already doing in a 12-step program, intensive outpatient program, or with a psychiatrist.
